Compressed Air Energy Efficiency and Control

Energy efficiency is a common topic which comes up when our clients have compressed air systems installed and serviced. Everyone wants to save money and rightly so.

We use various state of the art energy measuring methods to establish how efficient your system is operating. We can then supply full reports and certified recommendations for you to plan efficiency inspections.

Compressed air management systems harness individual air compressor pressure set-points and control target system pressure within fine limits to reduce generating costs. This ensures that the compressors (irrespective of manufacturer or type) are employed in the most efficient combination to suit a fluctuating air demand pattern.

“Intelligent” electronic controls will automatically configure and operate single and multi- compressor systems in the most energy-efficient and cost effective patterns for individual applications during changeable production cycles.

SmartAir Master

The SmartAir Master can intelligently control up to 12 compressors of any combination, fixed or variable speed, and will reduce energy consumption by tightening the network pressure to the smallest possible band, keeping off load running to the absolute minimum.
Demand responsive operation ensures that where varying capacity compressors are installed only the correct combinations of compressors are selected to meet the system demand, resulting in maximum energy savings.

Where compressors of the same capacity are installed the sequencer will equalise the running hours, offering even greater savings by optimising the service intervals.

Data Logging Equipment

A common tool that we use to measure air compressor efficiency is a Data Logger. Data logging provides an accurate assessment of the energy efficiency of compressed air systems. It will reveal inefficiencies and identify specific air demand precisely, efficiently and cost effectively.

How does it work?

A data logger is connected to the compressor in a non-intrusive process that does not interfere with normal running. It remains attached to the compressor for 7-14 days, gathering data on usage and pressure.

Data gathered is then reviewed on a laptop to show patterns of air demand and a full report can be sent back identifying the energy savings that could be achieved with various system/equipment modifications.
