What Are Industrial Air Blowers?
The primary purpose of an industrial air blower is to supply a significant flow of air or gas for a large range of different processes, applications and industries. During this process, they are also designed to increase the flow of air or gas whilst removing any contaminants or impurities present, such as dust, dirt and solid particulates. There are a variety of industrial blower technologies on the market, but at MidTech, we distribute side channel blowers. These are able to produce a continuous and consistent input and output of air that is either under vacuum or pressurised. This is thanks to an impeller inside the air blower spinning, which creates a pressure difference between the input and output of air. But how does this happen? Without complicating things, the basic working principle of industrial side channel air blowers begins with air or gas entering through the inlet before entering the side channel. In here, the centrifugal force from the rotating impeller blades accelerates the gas outwards, increasing the pressure. As the impeller rotates, kinetic energy is produced, further increasing the pressure along the side channel. The side channel then narrows at the rotor, which creates a sweeping motion, removing the gas off of the impeller blades before discharging it.
What Applications Are They Used For?
One of the most common applications for industrial air blowers is for manufacturing processes that need high-speed, high-velocity and continuous air. Due to the design and working principle of these systems, the air they produce is typically oil-free and clean. This makes them ideal particularly for manufacturing processes, as moisture contamination can affect the performance and longevity of tools and conveyance systems. It’s also important for applications within manufacturing that need to regulate or remove liquid on objects, such as within the electronics sector, or for food and beverage processing and packaging, where a clean, sterile, moisture-free environment is vital.
Another popular use for industrial air blowers includes the handling of materials in the pharmaceutical, chemical, cement production, agriculture and food processing sectors, as well as material conveying, particularly in the pulp and paper industry. They can also be used for dust loading, ventilation, and vacuum lifting.
