Vacuum Pumps

Uses & Applications

What Are Vacuum Pumps?

The primary purpose of a vacuum pump is to remove or draw out gas molecules or air particles from a sealed volume. This process causes a pressure difference that leaves behind a partial vacuum. There is a large variety of vacuum pump technologies on the market, including, but not limited to, screw, lobe, rotary, and liquid ring, which all work slightly differently, making them ideal for different applications and processes.

What Applications Are They Used For?

Vane Pumps: Rotary vane vacuum pumps are typically used to move low-viscosity fluids at high pressures and are designed specifically to allow for variable output. This makes them ideal for applications such as drink dispensers, chemical handling, fuel and light oil transfer, the handling of gasoline, petroleum and LPG gas and automotive transmissions.

Lobe Pumps: Rotary lobe pumps are typically used in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and sanitation applications.

Screw Pumps: Renowned for their capability of high flow rates, screw vacuum pumps are ideal for applications such as irrigation, injection, fuel transfer and oil production.

Liquid Ring Pumps: Typically, liquid ring vacuum pumps are used for applications such as environmental for biogas production and other aeration and treatment processes, food and beverage process and packaging, mining, marine, oil and gas, pulp and paper, textiles, pharmaceutical, chemical and electrical power.

Claw Pumps: Claw vacuum pumps are usually ideal for medical systems for powering machinery and equipment, water and sewage handling, milking parlours, thermoforming, pick and place in the electronics industry and printing and paper converting.
